The volume planning has turned out to be extremely useful for us.

01 — The challenge

Challenge

Essig & Öl Compagnie has spent thirty years building trust as Germany's quietly authoritative olive-oil curator. Their Olivenöl-Club ("olive oil club") ships a different small-mill oil each month — sourced personally by the founders on annual trips to Italy, Spain, and Greece, often from family-run mills where the Nonno still helps with harvest. That sourcing model only works if you know exactly how much oil to commit, months ahead. Too few bottles disappoints subscribers; too many ties capital up in slow-moving, perishable inventory. Their previous subscription tool gave them recurring orders, but no real view of what was coming.

02 — The solution

Solution

With Zubs, Essig & Öl get volume planning built into the subscription program itself — forward-looking projections of how many Olivenöl-Club bottles will need to ship in the coming weeks and months, broken down by edition. The merchant team uses those numbers to commit volumes to each small mill on each sourcing trip, confidently and without over- or under-buying. A more fair and transparent price was what triggered the move from their previous provider; the volume planning turned out to be the surprise upside.

03 — The result

Results

Sourcing decisions for the Olivenöl-Club now run on confirmed subscription numbers instead of estimates. The team commits to each small mill knowing exactly how many bottles they need for the next round of shipments — and the same numbers feed packing, fulfilment, and the monthly tasting-card production.

"What we didn't expect when switching to Zubs was that the volume planning in Zubs would turn out to be one of the most useful things in our day-to-day. And the support is fast and helpful, every time."
